Gig Poster – Jerry Pranksters

I asked John at The Down Under Lounge if I could get involved in gig posters. He provided details for next month’s Jerry Pranksters show Saturday, August 24th. They are a Grateful Dead cover band and have a great local following and I am honored to be a part of a special screen printed gig poster. I’ve always loved the Bertha artwork by Mike Dubois and wanted to make something similar without using the original artwork. I decided to use 3D software to pose in a similar fashion. I used rose pictures from my mom’s garden and stylized everything in photoshop. I designed this to be a three color print (red, white and blue) on black paper. I’ve separated the colors of the artwork by the different layers of color. I’ve printed off the transparencies and am going to attempt to burn the image into screens I coated months ago. If I am not able to use the screens I will need to pressure wash it coat the screens and let them dry before continuing the project. The poster sales will go towards a charity, not sure which one yet… but I threw out the idea of raising money for School of Rock. I’ll probably shoot for 30 posters in hopes that I will have enough to gift the members of the band and those around me that support me. I am hoping it’s something a bit more special than a digital print on white paper and it means something to the boys.
