Slow Stoics Gig Poster
While my first gig poster was on display for the Jerry Pranksters I received a message from Danny with Slow Stoics. He was looking for a Halloween and Music themed show poster. One of the first ideas that came to mind was Frankenstein with headphones on. In talking with Danny he wanted to incorporate a haunted barn. Frank was illustrated but the remainder of the scene was photoshopped.
Being a Halloween poster and having black paper laying around the decision was made to attempt a one-color print on black. I mixed some neon green and glow in the dark inks. I tend to learn something with every screen print. For this print, I learned that I should have done a white layer of ink first then the glow in the dark on top.
They only wanted a 11×17″ poster, so I took their first half of the payment and invested in a paper cutter. Currently I’ve been working with 13×19″ so I had a bit of room and didn’t want it to go to waste. I decided to put ‘assemble skeletons’ and a small ‘business card’ to hand out or put in protective sleeves to go along with the prints. It was a pleasure to work on this gig poster and look forward to many more in the future. Thanks Danny and band, easy to get along folks and a pleasure to work with.
