Let the creations begin!
I’ve updated my site with some recent projects I’ve been involved in and thought I would blog/share them here as well. Adam Houghtelling with Ragged Company asked if I would be interested in creating an image for the band with the intent of it being a one color shirt. It took a while to come up with a concept for the artwork, but we quickly moved in a direction after a meet. Upon nearing completion of the lion head I started to share the image around seeking feedback. Brixz was very excited about it and decided to commission their own image. The ideas were flowing and I worked towards bringing the overall image/vision to life. You can see the progress shots of these two commissions here. Both of those took a little over a week working on my lunch and evening time. The next person to be impressed with the art was Spencer and he wanted to commission me to bring his vision to life. He wanted a bear pouring whiskey and a rainbow of queso and chips magically swirling around him, backward hat, and a sword over the shoulder. I wanted this one to be more cartoony and have more action/depth. The first couple of concept dooodles weren’t impressing me so I kept at it and ended up with the following design. These three commissions were a good test for me. A test of working with others and bringing their creation to life. A test to push myself to make art efficiently. I think the clients were satisfied and enjoyed working with me. I am in constant communication and provided many progress shots to ensure I was still heading in the right direction. I am not sure what the next piece of artwork will be, but I intend to create something that will work with foil/rainbow/glitter paper. There will be extra costs for the paper and special ink, but I think the rainbow foil catches people’s eyes and might even be willing to reach deeper into the pocket to help offset those costs. Stay tuned!
