Best Silk Screen and Test Prints So Far! Almost able to call myself a screen print artist!

You might be sick of seeing the same horned skull image, over and over again… it’s one of the last things I was dooodling when I decided to splurge on silk screen equipment/tools. I knew it would be a good test image based on the halftone shading (tiny dots). Here are pictures of my achievements so far…

Future tests I will do with this screen is tape a border around the outside that will help eliminate some of the screen defects around the outside. There were spots of thicker emulsion that didn’t burn and/or wash out properly. In the future I will build a border into my artwork. Borders also provides space for signatures. Overall I am very happy with the halftones but need plenty more practice pulling ink more consistently and evenly. For starters I think I need a better and wider squeegee. And I need more ink so I can feel more liberal while printing. I think that will help build confidence and more uniform results. Stay tuned folks! I think I have found my calling, and this is just the beginning for me!
